Description

Small and medium sized food businesses are scrambling to make sure they’ve got things in place to meet new standards, regulations and expectations. But having documentation about management commitment to food safety doesn’t mean they’ve got food safety culture under control. Management commitment to food safety is important, but work unit commitment to food safety is what drives food safety behaviour and the work unit is where food safety culture really shows.

Walk away from this workshop with some actions to advance your food safety culture and be better prepared for your next food safety audit.

BIO:
Dr. Brita Ball has been designing and leading workshops and courses about food safety culture for nearly 10 years. She has backgrounds in both food science and social science so understands both the technical side and people-side of food safety. She brings experience as a food safety auditor and inspector, manager in a multinational food company, and leadership and organization development consultant. That’s the combination needed to help companies avoid non-conformances and make sure their food safety culture can pass examination.

Dr. Ball directed food safety for national brands in Gambia and Canada and led a national food safety information service in Canada. She has been an instructor at Kemptville and St Lawrence Colleges and the University of Guelph, as well as an advisor/committee member for food safety graduate students at the University of Guelph and Michigan State University. Dr. Ball is CEO and principal consultant at Brita Ball & Associates, and is Past-Chair of the Food Safety Education committee for the International Association for Food Protection.
